Hibiscus Jamz with Michele Castonguay & Alex Eloise
Hibiscus Jamz founder and multi-instrumentalist (guitar, bass, drums, vocals) ALEX ELOISE began his musical journey playing Calypso, Reggae, and SOCA. Jazz has become a favourite in recent years, because “it is a medium that allows a musician the most freedom to fully express himself.”. Over many years, he has performed at various Caribbean functions (St. Lucia and St. Vincent Independence Day Galas, Black Scholarship Fund Gala and Golf Tournaments), private parties, and gigged regularly with at Elgin Street’s St. Louis Bar and Grill over the past year. He also played at such venues as Festival Japan and Lebanese Place. This will be his first ZOLAS appearance.
Jazz vocalist MICHELE CASTONGUAY has been in love with jazz singers and singing ever since hearing Sarah Vaughan in her teens. She is among the roster of regular performers at ZOLAS and other jazz-friendly venues such as Festival Japan and Lebanese Palace with the Sherk Street Trio/Quartet, the Stay-Tuned/Restez a L’Ecoute ensemble, and the occasional ad hoc groups. In her most recent collaboration with Hibiscus Jamz’ Alex Eloise, she explores additional genres and musical adventures, and aspires not to sing a song the same way twice.
